The events are organised by LANDOR TRAVEL PUBLICATIONS
on behalf of the TOURISM & EVENTS SHOWCASE
There was a good focus on York and Yorkshire’s many visitor attractions at the show, with exhibitors including York’s Chocolate Story, York Brewery, Jorvik Viking Centre, Lightwater Valley Theme Park & Country Shopping Village, The World of James Herriot, Wensleydale Railway and North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Group friendly hotels, Best Western Monk Bar and Days Inn, Wetherby were on-hand as well.
Exhibitors from Lancashire included the Pennine Lancashire Museums Group, the National Trust’s Gawthorpe Hall and Visit Lancaster. The Manchester-based National Football Museum, Manchester City Football Club and Manchester United Museum & Tour were able to highlight experiences in these popular attractions for both football enthusiasts and non-specialists. GTOs were also delighted to discover that there was plenty to do further north as well, at Windermere Lake Cruises, Floors Castle on the borders of Scotland and the Steamship Sir Walter Scott in Loch Katrine. Attractions from other parts of England, such as Waddesdon Manor, were also represented at the show. The Melton Mowbray stand, with its delicious array of tempting samples including pork pies, cheese and tiny tots of beer was popular, and many GTOs and their groups will be venturing to the Rural Capital of Food and Drink in the coming months! The team from the West Somerset Railway and Yarn Market Hotel, Dunster were able to correct any misapprehensions about the county lingering from last year’s poor weather.
Here’s what visitors had to say about the 2015 show:
“Thank you for Saturday; it was a really informative and enjoyable day. Both the venue and the visit to the Yorkshire Air Museum were spectacular. I got really good feedback from the organisers who came with me – it makes it all feel worthwhile. Everyone came away with new ideas!” DENNIS FLETCHER Fletchers Coaches, Malton
“It’s been a brilliant day, giving us many ideas and several visits we can do.”
